
Michael C Cardwell, MD, FACOG
Dr Cardwell has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology since completing his residency in 1996 at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He had been an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics for three years prior too leaving in the spring of 2001 with Drs. Melius and Schurr to form their new practice. During his residency he was given the TAP award for outstanding first year resident and the Ben Peckham Award for outstanding senior resident.
Dr. Cardwell is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He graduated fro Yale University in 1980. He received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCLA in 1988 and his M.D. from Rush University in Chicago in 1992. Dr. Cardwell is also the recipient of Madison Magazine's Top Doc Awards for 2005 & 2006.
Dr. Cardwell's practice involves the full spectrum of general obstetrics and Gynecology, with special interest in:
- The techniques of minimally invasive surgery.
- Surgical and non-surgical management of urinary incontinence and other aspects of pelvic floor dysfunction.
- Management of disorders of the cervix and lower genital tract.
Dr. Cardwell is the father of three children. His wife Jill is an anesthesiologist at Meriter Hospital with a special interest in obstetrical anesthesia. When not occupied by work or family he enjoys woodworking, bicycling and cross-county skiing. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
