Michael C Cardwell, MD

Michael C Cardwell, MD, FACOG

Dr. Cardwell has been a practicing obstetrics and gynecology (ob/gyn) since completing his residency in 1996 at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics/Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison for three years prior to leaving in the spring of 2001 with Drs. Melius and Schurr to form their new Madison practice. During his residency he was given the TAP award for outstanding first-year resident and the Ben Peckham Award for outstanding senior resident.

Dr. Cardwell is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He graduated from Yale University in 1980. He received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCLA in 1988 and his MD from Rush University in Chicago in 1992.

Dr. Cardwell and his wife, Jill, an anesthesiologist at Madison's Meriter Hospital with a special interest in obstetrical anesthesia, have three children. When not occupied by work or family, he enjoys woodworking, bicycling and cross-country skiing. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
