Kate Metzger, MSN, CNM, is a nurse midwife at Physicians for Women in Madison, Wisconsin. She has been working with women and newborns since 2015. Kate has a unique skill set due to her experience working with both low-risk and high-risk populations, which has advanced her ability to quickly detect when a woman’s status is beginning to change.
Kate received her initial training at a low-risk hospital in Southern Indiana, and after moving to Wisconsin to pursue a nurse midwifery degree, she worked at Aurora Sinai Medical Center caring for very high-risk patients.
Kate has a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville and received her master's degree from Marquette University. She is certified by The American Midwifery Certification Board as a Certified Nurse Midwife, and in the future intends on becoming certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
Kate has been fascinated with birth since she was a child and genuinely feels like working in this capacity is not only a life calling but a dream come true. Kate is excited to partner with women to fit their unique health care needs, as well as take care of them throughout their lifetimes.
In her free time, Kate loves reading novels (especially thrillers), spending time with her large extended family, trying out various forms of exercise, and traveling.
