Frederic A. Melius, MD, FACOG

Dr. Melius shares his partners’ commitment to the highest standard of care in all areas of women’s health and has been practicing obstetrics, gynecology and urogynecology in the Madison area since completing his residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in 1991. During his senior year, he performed the role of Chief Resident and was the recipient of the Ben M. Peckham award for outstanding senior resident. In 1996, he served as Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Wisconsin Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Melius was honored by Madison Magazine as a Top Doc Award recipient for several years.

Julie A. Schurr, MD, FACOG

Another one of Madison Magazine’s Top Doc Award recipients for several years, Dr. Schurr has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology since finishing her residency in 1993. Dr. Schurr and her partners Drs. Melius and Cardwell developed an independent practice in 2001 with the vision of providing the highest standard in women’s health care available utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Dr. Schurr is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists [FACOG].

Michael C. Cardwell, MD, FACOG

Dr. Cardwell has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology since completing his residency in 1996 at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Cardwell served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, plus was honored to receive the TAP award for outstanding first-year resident and the Ben Peckham Award for outstanding senior resident. Dr. Cardwell has also been the recipient of Madison Magazine’s Top Doc Awards for several years running and is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Christine Kern Steffen, CNM

Christine Kern Steffen has been working with the pregnant women and infants of Dane County since 2003 in many different capacities; as a Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga teacher, a Doula, a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery and now as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Christine received an Advanced Degree as a Certified Nurse Midwife from Marquette University in 2012 and is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.

Patricia S. Kraemer, MD

Dr. Kraemer joined the Physicians for Women/Phases Primary Care group in February 2008 to add her expertise in internal medicine to the excellent standard of women's health care offered by the clinic. She is board certified in internal medicine and has been practicing in the Madison area since completing her training at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in 1988. Dr. Kraemer's practice covers all aspects of women's health from preventive care to comprehensive management of multi-system disorders.

Allison Scholl, CNM, MSN

Allison Scholl has been working with the pregnant women and infants of Southern Wisconsin since 2009 in many different capacities; as a community health advocate, Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum, and as a Certified Nurse Midwife. Allison received an Advanced Degree as a Certified Nurse Midwife from Frontier Nursing University in 2015 and is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.

Angela Boehnen, MSN, APNP, FNP-BC

Angela Boehnen, MSN, APNP, FNP-BC is an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with experience in family medicine, women’s health and critical care. She has been practicing medicine in northern California and south central Wisconsin since 2005. Angela began as a nurse and continued on with her education to complete her Master’s of Science in Nursing at Concordia University in WI in 2014 and began practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Before joining Physician’s for Women in 2017, Angela was practicing as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner at Prairie Clinic in Sauk City Wisconsin.
